It’s amazing how something as minuscule as nails can be a canvas on which we can express ourselves. Apart from making a fashion statement, nail art is also a self-care indulgence many love to pamper themselves with.

In this tiny nation of Maldives, we are seeing so many young and talented young people who are working towards in achieving their dreams and goals. Every day we see our people showing the world that Maldivian blood can also achieve just as much. It is truly inspiring that we get to interview these gifted individuals and bring the readers an insight of how they are working towards in making a mark of their own in this challenging world of giving and being the best, they can be.

Hajara Yusuf (Hajja) is the face behind the local Maldivian brand, 'Elhabe' - a jewellery line entwining modernism with a vibrant pop of traditional Maldivian art and culture. It could be stated that the brand is bringing on a remarkable whirl to the ongoing cycle of traditional jewellery craftsmanship.

Let me start. I personally get that Madonna vibe, her song that’s titled ‘Vogue’. I see people who are in all conventional ways the beautiful kind, walking and posing, looking all ferocious, and then wearing the widest variety of clothes from casual stuff all the way to the most outlandish, and in some ways, out-worldly, clothes imaginable, loudly proclaiming ‘fashion!’, am I far from your assumption? If someone asks you, my casual reader, to be a model, what would you reply? Wouldn’t you do a double-take as well?

Owner of one of the most established and popular salons in Sri Lanka, Kess Salon, and with 25 years of experience, Mr. Vasantha is renowned not only for his artistry but for breaking the mold and creating new pathways for hairstyling in the small island nation of Sri Lanka.
